Reflections on Christmas 2019

“Whenever anyone was unselfish, that was Santa Claus. Christmas Eve was the time when everybody was unselfish. On that one night, Santa Claus was everywhere, because everybody, all together, stopped being selfish and wanted other people to be happy. And in the morning you saw what that had done.”

LAURA INGALLS WILDER, On the Banks of Plum Creek

This season was my first in the red suit. Whether I was visiting a single three-year-old child at home or greeting thousands in an arena, the joy that was reflected in the faces of children (and adults alike) will keep me warm all winter.

Some of the highlights:

  • The spontaneous hug from a child the moment I walked in the door on my first in-home visit.

  • The toddler that responded to my question, “Have you been a good girl?” with “I jumped out of my crib this morning!” (Much to her mom’s surprise!)

  • The oldest sibling in a family of five that leaned in to whisper what she wanted, “I just want my family to have a Merry Christmas.” So poignant and loving!

Whether you have large or small Christmas gatherings, I will try and add an element of joy that will make your event special and memorable. Christmas 2020 seems a long way away, but it’s never too early to begin a conversation on how Santa Claus can be a part of your holiday. Drop me an email to get things started.
